Tourism promotion conference in 2017

On the morning of August 3rd 2017, in Hanoi, the General Department of Tourism held a conference to promote tourism in 2017. Attending the conference was Mr. Huynh Vinh Ai - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan - General Director of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Mr. Ha Van Sieu - Deputy General Director of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, together with other central Departments of Tourism, leaders of Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of cities, and news agencies.

Over the past years, our country's tourism industry has grown sharply and is gradually shifting towards on competitiveness quality and sustainability with the goal of becoming an important economic sector. Continuing with last year's achievement, in the first seven months of 2017, the number of international tourists arrivaling reached 7.25 million, an increase of 28.8% over the same period; Total revenue from tourists reached nearly 307 trillion VND, an increase of 26% over the same period of 2016. It can be said that achieving encouraging growth results in contribution of travel promotion.

The National Administration of Tourism has carried out the function of national tourism promotion reported to the tourism promotion conference in the recent time has achieved encouraging results in the scope of promotion activities. In the task of promoting tourism in the last 5 months of 2017, VNAT has put forward a number of solutions such as boosting tourism promotion activities in the remaining markets and being able to grow strongly; Maintain stable growth of other traditional markets; Especially the markets are almost: China, Japan, Korea, ASEAN; Strengthening destination management, diversifying and improving the quality of tourism services; Promoting electronic maketing in promoting both in domestic and international tourism; Enhance air connections, launch new routes of airline both in domestic and international ...

The focal task in 2018 and the following years is to focus on researching tourism market methodically and meticulously; Forecast and updates market fluctuations as the basis for all action programs promotion; To renovate basically both the contents and methods of organizing tourism promotion and advertisement, in which the role of the Tourism Advisory Council is to promote the model of public-private cooperation in the promotion of tourism; Mobilize resources from various sources for tourism promotion; Implement effective promotion programs at major events such as: ITB, WTM, ATF 2018, ...

At the conference, participants discussed some issues such as:
(1) Focus on measures to increase the number of international tourists to Vietnam in the last 5 months of 2017 to ensure that international arrivals to Vietnam reach at least 30% by the government's request.
(2) Measures to mobilize social resources and strengthen the role of enterprises in tourism promotion.
(3) Identify priority tasks to enhance the effectiveness of tourism promotion (participation in fairs, development and promotion of trademarks, products ...)
(4) Orientations and implementation of tourism promotion activities as planned in 2018 and next years including coordinating mechanism, roles and responsibilities of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and other stakeholders.

With the guidance of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the positive response of localities and enterprises, the result of this conference will be transformed into a specific program of action, synchronous implementation from central to localities and enterprises create breakthroughs to promote and raise efficiency and professionalism for the promotion of tourism in the coming time.
